Audit report writing training programmes

Writing Effective audit Reports You need your audit report to be read, understood and acted on. Let us show your audit team how to write clearly and convincingly, in a few easy-to-learn steps.

This course is unique in Britain; our fee structure is very competitive and our training standards high. You can be assured of our commitment to offering personalised attention to your team members.

Why do we need to produce clearly written audit reports?

Well, who really enjoys reading the audit report that you have spent hours researching and compiling?

As you know, your audit report has two main functions:

  • to report on your findings; and
  • to get your recommendations acted upon in the timescale you suggest.

This means that your report has to be clear and easy to understand. Your report has to be written so that it is:
  • easy to navigate, so that users can quickly refer to sections that apply to their roles and duties;
  • in a tone that reflects the urgency of recommendations;
  • in a tone that elicits cooperation rather than alienation from those audited.

Audit reports all too frequently are bogged down with unnecessary words and redundant phrases, heavy noun phrases and the passive voice.
    "It is a recommendation that all monies from income be banked regularly, and a record be kept."
is not terribly helpful if we need to know by whom and how often. Much clearer to recommend:
    "The duty manager should record and bank all income weekly."
Over the last five years we have developed one and two-day courses for writing clear and effective audit reports. The course is interactive and hands-on and we can incorporate some of your participants' reports into the two-day programme.

We offer a theoretical framework around which your auditors can structure their reports and a comprehensive checklist for assuring clarity and readability. This course is unique in Britain; our fee structure is very competitive and our training standards high. You can be assured of our commitment to offering personalised attention to your team members.

The course is facilitated by our most experienced plain language trainer and writer, Pamela Jones, and John Duder, former Chief Internal Auditor. Both trainers enjoy working with participants on their reports and offer feedback on level of content, organisation and style.

Subject to the number of bookings, our two-day open courses run on the first Monday and Tuesday of the month at an all-inclusive cost of 395 per participant.

We also run in-house tailor-made courses for up to twelve auditors.
Please contact us for the fee structure.

We offer a 10% discount to local authorities and charities on both the open course fees quoted above, and for in-house courses.
